Use your imagination!

B has decided that she definitely wants me to MAKE her a quilt for her birthday. This is fine. I have no problems doing this. The only problem is, she's also decided that she wants those long round cushion things (neck rolls?) as well as European style pillows (those big square things) and a throw for her bed.

No worries kid.

So now, you have to use your imagination. This is a rough idea of what she's said she wants for her quilt:

and this is roughly what she wants the pillowcases to look like:

Basically, the European cushions (if I decide to make them) will look exactly like the quilt, but a miniature version, smaller squares etc and I have NO idea what the neck roll is going to look like, we couldn't actually picture it. This is all her idea mind you. We went into Lincraft yesterday and had a wander, she's chosen two different types of camo polar fleece (blue and pink) and a plain cream polar fleece, and wants cream coloured flanelette on the back.

Oh, did I mention she has a queensize bed? Yeah. This is gonna be fun.

We worked out that 40cm camo squares in a checkerboard pattern - 5 across and 5 down, with a 15-20cm border in the cream would be nice.

She also wants a darker, handstitched, camel color around the edges of the doona and pillowcases, as well as a cream colored stitch between the squares to brighten it up and seperate the squares as a finishing touch. This kid KNOWS what she wants and she's not afraid to ask! *dies*

I shouldn't have ever let her look at those craft books!

Oh and, if you're wondering, I made the pictures in Paint.NET.. do you know that there are no decent pictures of pink or blue camo polar fleece? *sigh* The colors are off, but once I actually buy the materials I'll get pics and show you all so you have a better idea of what I'm actually using.
